Welcome to the October 2006 Growling Frog e-newsletter.

Twilight Golf Competition Commences 24 October 2006

A twilight golf competition will be conducted each Tuesday afternoon commencing on 24 October 2006 and will continue for the duration of the daylight savings period (excluding Melbourne Cup Day).

Play in the competition will be from 4.00pm.

The competition will be over 9 holes and all players with a GOLF Link or social club handicap are welcome to compete.

The green fee for those participating in the twilight competition is $10 plus a competition fee of $5.

2006 National Indigenous Golf Championships

The 2006 National Indigenous Golf Championships will be staged at the Growling Frog Golf Course from 29 October 2006 - 3 November 2006.

The golf course will be operating for public access as normal during the competition.

Course Irrigation

Stage 2 water restrictions for Melbourne commence on 1 November 2006.

Golfers at the Growling Frog can expect to continue play on well maintained and watered tees, fairways and greens as the golf course is irrigated using recycled water. The restrictions do not apply to recycled water irrigation of the golf course.

Christmas Function

Have you considered playing 9 or 18 holes and socialising at the Growling Frog for your Christmas function?

A golf clinic, followed by 9 or 18 holes with refreshments and food is an ideal way to celebrate the completion of the working year.

Hire clubs are available and first time players are most welcome.

EASY ACCESS TRAVEL DIRECTIONS

  • From CBD - travel time is an easy 45 minutes around City Link, the Ring Road and the new Craigieburn Bypass to Donnybrook Road
  • From Western suburbs west via Calder Freeway, the Ring Road and the new Craigieburn Bypass to Donnybrook Road, travel time is an easy 35 minutes from Keilor
  • From Melbourne Airport via Tullamarine Freeway, the Ring Road and the new Craigieburn Bypass to Donnybrook Road, travel time is an easy 25 minutes
  • From the eastern suburbs via Fitzsimmons Lane, St. Helena Road, Yan Yean or Plenty Roads and Donnybrook Road. A pleasant drive of about 35 min from Doncaster or Templestowe with little traffic. If you are coming from Ivanhoe or Kew about the same travel time along Burke Road Nth , Rosanna Road, Greensborough Bypass to Plenty Road then Donnybrook Road. Not quite as scenic but an easy drive.
  • The coffee, restaurant & importantly the golf are great when you arrive.
  • Excellent dining facilities, snacks, formal meals.
  • On course food and drink cart.
